Historical Overview of ULF
In the context of the longstanding ties between France and Lebanon, a diverse group of Franco-Lebanese academics formed the Francophone Association for the Development of Higher Education (AFDES), a non-profit, secular organization based in Lyon.
Conducted studies, in both public and private sectors, have shown a significant need in the job market for advanced technological training at university level. These programs aim to equip students with the skills needed to adapt to new contemporary economic and technological changes.
In line with this vision, AFDES established a university center for teaching and applied research in North Lebanon. This center would employ innovative pedagogical approaches and draw upon the experiences of well-established systems in higher technological education. Accredited by the Lebanese State through Decree No. 9278 on October 5, 1996, the institution was named the “University Center of Technology” in Tripoli, North Lebanon (CUT).
The institution opened its door in Deddeh on October 30, 1997.
By Decree 851 issued on November 30, 2007, the CUT was transformed into the Lebanese-French University of Technology and Applied Sciences. This evolution builds upon the foundation laid by the CUT while offering a wider range of academic programs.

When you work full-time while studying, you need to sacrifice personal time, which meant that I took my studies seriously. My ambition was not only to complete my degree successfully.
