Biography

Dr. Michel Najjar completed his secondary education at Bchemzine High School in 1976 and then pursued civil engineering at the American University of Beirut. However, circumstances at the time led him to continue his education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering.

After several years in the West and the Arabian Gulf—where he gained extensive experience in research, development, teaching, and consulting—he returned to Lebanon to join the University of Balamand as a Professor and contributed to the establishment, expansion, and advancement of its Faculty of Engineering.

At the University of Balamand, Dr. Najjar held several senior administrative positions since 1991, including Deanship of the Faculties of Engineering and Science, and Vice President for Administration, Development, and Public Relations.

In 2019, he assumed the position of Executive Vice President for Academic and Administrative Affairs at the American University of Technology, where he served for two years before being appointed Minister for Public Works and Transport until September 2021. Later, he became President of the American University of Malta, a position he held until joining ULF in November 2024.

In addition to his extensive academic and leadership experience, Dr. Najjar has a passion for poetry, mathematics, physics, and literature, reflecting a balanced dedication to both science and the arts.
